Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some answers to common questions.
Please read through all questions before you contact the club.

Q- I registered for the wrong club, can I get a refund?  If we move out of the area, can I get a refund?  If my child, decides not to play, can I get a refund?  If I can't make time for practices, can I get a refund?
A-The simple answer is NO.  There are NO REFUNDS, regardless of the reason.

Q-I want to enroll my child into soccer where do I come in at to do it?

A-Online and at Live Registrations.
 

Q-Does the soccer team play other teams? 
A-All ages play other teams, but U6 only play other teams within the NSC.
 

Q- My child is 7..what is the whole total to enrolled?

A-$140 if a uniform is needed.
 

Q- Is that a one time fee?
A- One time a year.

Q-When does the fees have to be in by?

A- At the time of registration.

Q-When does soccer start? 
A- The first season game begins on September 8th.

Q- W
hat days do they practice?
A-  This is determined by the coach of the team, and cannot be determined until all registrations are completed.

Q - How is it determined which age bracket my child will play under?
A - The NSC will create as many recreational teams as are needed, depending on the number of registered recreational players.  All U6 players will play on a co-ed team.   U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19 teams are based on age and gender. Age brackets are based on birthdates that fall between August 1st through July 31st of each year. Click on the the PDF icon for age matrix with specific date information.

Q - Are children required to tryout to be placed on a team?
A - There are no tryouts for recreational soccer.

Q - How often does recreational soccer practice?
A - Generally practice is 2x's per week per the coach’s discretion.

Q - How and when will I know what team my child has been assigned to and the name of the coach?
A - NSC must submit all team recommendations to the Natomas Unified Youth Soccer League (NUYSL). They do not process that paperwork until the last week in July. Upon approval by RCSL, NSC must finish the registration process by completing player passes and coach passes. This can take a week or two. You should have information in early August. You should NOT contact the Club unless you have not heard from your Head Coach by mid-August.

Q - When does the season begin?
A - Practice begins the first week of August and the first season game is the Saturday after Labor Day.

Q - Where will practice be?
A - Practices are generally held at local schools & parks which are assigned to the coaches.

Q - What equipment do I need to play soccer?
A - For practice, you will need cleats, shin guards, socks that cover your shin guards, a soccer ball
and most importantly water or Gatorade brought to every practice and of course for games you will need a full uniform.

Q - What size ball do I need?
A - Every age group has a specific size ball.

Q - How long is the season?
A - Recreational teams have a season that goes from September to November, with a total of ten games.

Q - When will my child hear from a coach?
A - Registered players will receive a call from a coach at the beginning of the season.
If you do not receive a call by the middle of August please call the registrar @ 265-3173.
Please do not call before then, many coaches are on vacation in the summer and will call you as soon as they can.

Q - How do I handle special requests, like playing up, for my child?
A - Each special request must go before the NUYSL registrar for consideration.
NSC does not approve or deny these requests they are decided by the league.
All players wishing to play up need to have a parent/guardian complete the playing up form and turn it in with the child's registration.
Players may NOT play down.

Q - What do I need for registration if my child is new to soccer or did not play last year?
A - You will need a COPY of the player's birth certificate (NO hospital certificates will be accepted). As well as a 1x1 photo.

Q - How can I volunteer?
A - If interested in volunteering, please email the club at info@natomassoccerclub.org with your information for our volunteer coordinator.
We have a huge need for volunteers.

Q - Can I request to have my child placed with a certain coach or friend?
A - Requests for specific coaches/players at the recreational level should be noted at the time of registration.
The club will attempt to accommodate those requests but there is no guarantee that everyone will be accommodated.

Q - Does each team have a "team manager" or "team mom"?
If so, what are their responsibilities? How would I go about volunteering for that position?
A - Some teams do choose to have a team manager or team mom. That person typically takes on many of the team’s administrative duties. Those duties can include sending team e-mails or placing phone calls, picture day, collecting team money (banner), snack schedule etc.

Q - Can my child wear jewelry?
A - Jewelry is not permitted at practices or games for safety reasons. NO exceptions.

Q - What about "rain-outs" or cancellations?
A - Soccer is an all weather sport. Coaches determine if practice is cancelled.
League and Club determine if games are cancelled, mostly due to flooded areas and/or lightning.
Parents, of course, may withdraw their child from play if they are uncomfortable with safety issues.
Soccer is traditionally played under many conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind so be prepared.

Q- Are the teams co-ed?
A- The U6 teams are co-ed.  All teams from U8-U19 are gender specific. 

Q-I want my child to play with her best friend.  Can that request be accommodated?
A- Special requests CANNOT be accomodated. 
The Club will make every effort to keep previous teams together,
but it cannot be guaranteed.
Children are placed in their age group bracket and play ups for convenience are not granted.
