In the future, we hope to have more involvement
from our older youth. Including our Under-16 and Under-18 boys' and girls' teams. Please help to get our older youth
involved.
But don't forget about yourselves parents. Soccer is a commitment made by both the player and his/her
family. So come out and support your team by watching games and volunteering to improve our organization. Communication is
the key to a successful season. We need your input and help. So don't be afraid to speak your mind appropriately.
A few words from our Manager... I am into my third season as your club manager. While we had a mostly
successful 2007 season, areas of concern have popped up at all levels of league play.
I would like to address
the issue of parent and spectator comportment at the games. We all like to see our children having a good time playing soccer.
And while most of us behave at the games, there have been instances where the behavior of parents/spectators is unacceptable.
We will attempt to better deal with this issue in the coming year.
Parents, let the kids play their game. We cannot
and should not expect them to perform at our level. We should not be running up and down the sidelines screaming instructions
to them. That job should be left to the coaches. The coach is the only person that the child should be listening to. If you
want to be heard by the players, then you are encouraged to participate as a coach or an assistant.
Also, most
of our young referees are also soccer players that, in most instances, only have a year or two of experience behind them.
Parents, please be aware that these referees are kids too. They, just like grownups, can make mistakes. But this is not the
reason to begin yelling at them or making a scene when the call is not made to a parents liking. Put yourselves, or
better yet, put your child in that referee’s place. How do you want the referee to be treated? How would you feel? In
this regard, this year we will have a zero tolerance policy for parent/spectator bad
behavior. If you cannot abide by the rules, then perhaps in would be better for you to stay away and allow your kids enjoy
their soccer.
Again, I would like to compliment all of those involved for their dedication and effort
to continue making the Natomas Soccer Club one of the best soccer clubs in Sacramento. We are looking forward to another
great season, and with the efforts and involvement of everyone, we can continue to overcome any obstacles and make this a
successful season.
