Here are some basics about soccer:

Offside:

We as Parents, Coaches, Players, Spectators often yell out "Offside" during the course of a game...But do you know there are FOUR determining factors to the offside rule.
*In the opponent's half of the field,
AND
*Nearer the opponent's goal line than the ball,
AND
*Nearer the opponent's goal line than the second last opponent,
AND
*REFEREE DETERMINES THAT YOU HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE AREA OF ACTIVE PLAY
Of course there are some exceptions to this rule. You CANNOT be offside if:
*You receive the ball from a throw-in
*You receive the ball directly from a goal kick
*You receive the ball directly from a corner kick
